Go Local: Christmas

This year we see needs around us in our communities and neighborhoods like never before. For this reason, Sent Sunday: Christmas is not going to be a one-day event, it is going to be a month-long challenge we are calling Go Local: Christmas. During the month of December, we are giving to 4 partners in our community that are in need of food and monetary donations.
We want to feed and help as many families as possible this year, to do that you can give at to Go Local Christmas and The Village is matching donations up to $20,000! Learn more about our partners below and click the button to give!

Our Community Partners

While we can’t have our Sent Sunday: Christmas Edition in the same way we have traditionally, we’re excited to partner all month long with four organizations that our Sent Sunday: Christmas event support every year. Keep reading to learn more about these organizations and how your donations can support them this month!

Round Up For Nolensville

We are both sponsoring this organization and helping to collect food and household/hygiene products. Round Up For Nolensville partners with the Nolensville Food Pantry to help feed local families. One of the ways they do this is through the fun tradition of Reverse Advent Boxes. Here’s how you can help!

  • Pick up a box at Sweetwaters or Mama’s Java, or on Dec. 5th at Photos with Santa in Lennox Village
  • Fill the box with the items on the list
  • Drop off the box at the Nolensville Food pantry
  • Can’t pick up a box? No worries! Just take the list found here and you can drop them off at the food pantry!

Cosecha Community

Cosecha’s dream is to take an unused building and bring it back to life as the Cosecha Community Center, where Cosecha will host empowering educational programming for under-resourced children, youth, and families who reside along the Nolensville Pike corridor of South Nashville. The Village is giving a financial gift to them this year to make this dream happen! Cosecha is working in partnership with Woodbine UMC to renovate and restore the church’s Memorial Educational Building. We get to be part of also helping Woodbine UMC and Primera Iglesia continue to feed hungry families in the community. We will be providing gift cards to these families to buy food for the holiday season.

Weekly Challenge!

Support Cosecha by providing presents for their Holiday Store! This store allows families of Whitslett Elementary and Wright Middle School to shop for presents at 70% off prices, then all the proceeds are invested into these schools! Use the flyer found here, or this Target gift registry to pick up items to donate to the holiday store and drop them off at Woodbine UMC by Tuesday, Dec. 8th!

Stonebrook Apartments

We are excited to continue to partner with Jeff and Megan Snyder, two local missionaries who have felt a call to love on the Stonebrook community. Stonebrook is a multi-ethnic apartment complex in South Nashville that has a large immigrant/refugee population. Megan and Jeff have opened their home to this community and continue to help meet the basic needs of those in the community as well as sharing the Gospel. They have helped us identify some of the families who could benefit from food and meals during this pandemic. The Village would love to help those affected by providing gift cards to help those in need.

Local Public Schools

We’ll also be supporting our local public school partners with this year’s Go Local: Christmas! This includes multiple Backpack Feeding Programs that supply nutritious meals and snacks for students over the weekend, free of charge. These programs are intended to help those children whose families may find it difficult to have enough food. For holidays and extended breaks during the school year, the Village has assisted these Backpack programs in providing groceries for those students whose food insecurity make them more vulnerable when they are not receiving food from school.
